"The Source" - That's what they call it.
Scimitar is a 3-episode 20 level Megawad for Doom 2, it is designed to run on MBF-based
source ports, and extensively uses Boom editing techniques along with a dehacked patch.
Each level havs a unique feel and feature whilst still remaining heavily themed to it's
episode. They are all designed to be played both through and from a pistol start.
The wad also includes several new monsters, each in keeping with their siblings
in the original Doom 2, but with a few surprises thrown in.
The centerpiece of the wad is a three level hub, where the player must collect a gem
from each arena to progress through. Several other arena-styled sequences are found in the wad.
2006-10-25 - 1.0 is OUT, get it and get stuck in! Should be in the newstuff chronicles this weekend, but next weekend at the latest.
2006-09-11 - Beta 2 is ready to download. There's a raft of updated sprites textures, map tweaks and gampleay optimisations. This will be the final beta before the Release Candidate so feedback is soreley needed.
2006-07-26 - Work on Beta 2 is well underway including a massive retexturing effort, with each level's layout, lighting and architecture being tweaked too. Updated screenshots can be seen over to the right.
2006-06-08 - Beta 1 is ready for testing, i absolutely need feedback, mainly suggestions aobout the gameplay aspects inc skill levels. I need to take some new screenshots as there's been a lot of retexturing work done since the alpha. Enjoy!
